Local Art

Artist and Producer Submission Policy

Supporting Local Makers in Our Independent Bookshop

At Teasel & Skylark Bookshop, we are proud to support local creativity and craftsmanship. We welcome submissions from artists and makers whose work aligns with our brand values of celebrating the natural world around us, well-being, and sustainability.

Submitting Work for Consideration

All work must be submitted for approval before being stocked.

We are particularly interested in items that reflect:

  • The beauty and diversity of the natural world.

  • Themes of mindfulness, mental health, and well-being.

  • Strong local connections — whether through materials, subject matter, or artist location.

Please include:

  • A brief artist statement or bio.

  • Photos and descriptions of the proposed work.

  • Recommended retail prices.

Terms of Sale

  • All items are accepted on a sale or return basis.

  • The shop retains a 35% commission on each sale.

  • Payments to artists will be made monthly, alongside a sales report, unless requested.

  • Artists are responsible for delivering and collecting unsold work by arrangement.

  • Artists are responsible for the insuring of their own work against damage and theft.

Presentation and Quality

  • All pieces must be professionally finished and ready for retail (e.g. mounted, framed, tagged, or labelled as appropriate).

  • Work must be clearly priced by the artist.

  • We reserve the right to decline work that does not meet our presentation standards or fit with our brand identity.

Duration and Review

  • Initial display period is 8–12 weeks, with review based on sales performance and seasonal relevance.

  • Unsold work must be collected within 14 days of notification. Items not collected within this time may be donated to charity unless otherwise agreed.

Promotion

  • We may feature selected artists on our website, social media, or in-store displays, at our discretion.

  • Artists are encouraged to share their involvement with Teasel & Skylark to help promote their work and the partnership.

Thank you for considering our bookshop as a home for your work! We love supporting local talent.
