Charitable Donations and Events Policy

Supporting Local Charities through our Independent Bookshop

We are proud to support local charities who provide services for local people to improve and support their lives and their wellbeing.

Please read the following guidelines before requesting donations or our attendance at charitable events.

1. Conditions and Eligibility

·      Charities must be based locally and serve the local community.

·      The services provided by the charity must align with the overall values of Teasel and Skylark – Nature, Education, and Community. Examples might include nature-based activities, hospices, community-run not-for-profit groups etc.

·      The donation must be for a specific fund-raising event or activity being run by the charity, e.g. a fete, open day, prize raffle, etc.

·      A donation shall be one or both of:

o   An item or items from existing shop stock, at the discretion of the shop.

o   A monetary donation comprising either a fixed amount or a percentage of takings if we attend your event, e.g. bring stock to sell on a stall.

2. Submission Process

Please let us have the following:

·      Details of what your charity provides, along with any website or social media details.

·      Details of the specific fund-raising event/activity being organised that you are seeking a donation for – venue, date, times, etc.

3. Marketing

·      We will use the donation/event both to publicise our business as well as the work of your charity.

·      We would ask that you publicise our support too if at all possible but this is not a condition.

4. Disclaimer

We reserve the right to decline any request for donations and/or attendance at any event.
