Our Official Opening with Edward Morello MP
We were delighted to welcome Edward Morello MP to officially open our independent bookshop in Dorchester on Thursday 25 September 2025.
It was a great evening with a lovely group of guests and we were really made to feel like a part of Dorchester’s community.
Before cutting the ribbon, Mr Morello gave a short speech in which he recognised the importance of independent bookshops to the local community and noted that our theme of the natural world, and educating children about this in particular, was timely and much-needed.
As part of the event, local naturalist and internationally published author John Wright gave a short speech about the importance of nature writing of all kinds and the part that independent bookshops play in bringing such important topics to the high street in an accessible and encouraging way.
We would really like to thank everyone who attended the evening, and in particular Edward Morello MP and John Wright, as well as all those who have supported us in our journey so far; getting to this stage has been a real team effort and we thank everyone from our contractors and suppliers to our neighbours, friends and families, and all the local artists and writers who have joined the Teasel & Skylark Books ‘family’ - and most of all we want to thank all of our amazing customers. We can’t wait to become a bigger part of Dorchester’s shopping and cultural communities.
