The Great Big (ever-so-slightly) Bookish Quiz Night for Mid-Dorset Mencap

On the evening of Wednesday 17 June 2026, we held our first ever book-themed quiz with Mid-Dorset Mencap (Dorchester’s independent charity in Trinity Street).

Thank you to everybody who came along - your support meant the world and we managed to raise almost £200 for Mid-Dorset Mencap.

Hosted in the fantastic Casterbridge Room in The King’s Arms Hotel, quiz teams battled their way through 10 rounds of bookish questions with rounds including ‘first or last lines’, ‘odd one out’ and ‘emoji book titles’ (we particularly enjoyed the response to the fiendish ‘only consonants’ round). Scores were close towards the end, but in the end it was the ‘Cavapoo Appreciation Society’ (CAS) who took the title and won the cash prize with an amazing 198 points. ‘Indocti’ came in second place with an impressive 186.5 points, winning a box of chocolates, and ‘Fugitives on Tour’ came in third place with a solid 166.5 points.

The raffle was drawn after the quiz with all winners informed on the evening. Thank you to all the extremely generous local businesses and organisations that donated such amazing prizes.
